Nancy,
As you stated, the bottoom-line is: Social Media are not meant to REPLACE marketing strategy. They are PART of your overall marketing strategy.
They are here to stay and because they are so cost-effective, it's essential for all business owners to own their own social media presence and make the time.

Thanks very much Deb.

You are right...make the time. Don't just ignore it, or degrade the mediums available simply because you are a bit irritated they even exist. It is obvious these tools are not going away, but will only become more commonplace. The names and the tools will change, but the practice of networking and communicating via Social Media is a new way of life to be added to the one we already have.

Interesting post Nancy, and I so agree with all of your points. You really get this social media stuff. There is no cookie cutter approach to social media, and it needs to be a part of your overall marketing plan. It is simply another, very important tool, in your marketing toolbox. But it is also a tool that needs to be used. Had a phone conversation with a former partner in my old law firm. His comment, I don't have time to blog or get on twitter. My comment, you need to make the time.
